Location

If you wish to discover Salento, with its deep blue sea, breathtaking beaches, baroque seafaring cities, centuries-old countryside villages, wine and food traditions, oil-mills, oils, wines, and the splendor of Puglia, and of Santa Maria di Leuca in Lecce, then B&B Santa Caterina is for you!
On Santa Caterina's sea, 6 kilometers from Nardò and 13km from Gallipoli, bed and breakfast Santa Caterina is the ideal place from where to enjoy local excursions and a seaside vacation.

With its breathtaking sea and beaches, Santa Caterina is nestled within the Marine and Game Reserve of Porto Selvaggio – Palude del Capitano, an unpolluted area of crystaline ocean and abounding nature entrusted with ancient caves which were once inhabited by Neanderthals (the Cave del Cavallo in Uluzzo's Bay, the necropolis of Serra Cicoria, the Caves of Serra Cicoria). Another protected marine reserve is found a few kilometers from Bed and Breakfast Santa Caterina, in Porto Cesareo where you will also find enchanting beaches (with fully equipped beach resorts) and a crystal clear ocean.

Santa Caterina is a characteristic small village made of white houses, surrounded by delightful ancient villas, and overshadowed by the Santa Caterina Tower which once served as a look-out point for Saracens and pirates, and stands a stone's throw from Santa Maria al Bagno, an old fishermen quarter, and from Nardò, with its beautiful historic center : The San Domenico Church in Piazza Salandra, the Guglia dell'Immacolata, the Pretura palace and the Sedile, are all refined samples of the "Barocco leccese".

Near the bed and breakfast you will also find Gallipoli, with its centuries-old city rich in narrow streets, piazzas, courts, churches and stunning baroque palaces, is full of life in the summer time, and boasts many shops and restaurants where you can enjoy long evenings. When in town, don't miss out on the ancient Greek Fountain and the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli.

Lecce, the capital of Salento is 35 km from BB Santa Caterina. It's beautiful, full of life and rich in history. Throughout the historic center you will delight in palazzi, piazze, and baroque churches. When in Lecce, don't miss out on piazza del Duomo, la Basilica di Santa Croce, Palazzo Adorno, Palazzo dei Celestini, and piazza Sant'Oronzo.
